At the end, its always about the kids .. our kids

Assalamualaikum....

Ingat tak sebelum ini pernah kecoh pasal asyik anak cikgu je dapat wakil sekolah? atau anak PIBG atau orang berkepentingan. Atau anak orang yang sama je?

Dan benda ni i.e. wakil sekolah dah jadi macam komoditi. Semuanya sebab keperluan sijil2 dan markah untuk dibawa ke penentuan asrama nanti. Dah jadi macam pelbagai drama. Berwarna warni.

Ada yang fitnah menfitnah individu untuk rebutkan jawatan dalam PIBG - dengan harapan peluang anak akan jadi lebih cerah nanti - Innalillah. 

Ada yang bergaduh berpuak-puak dalam aktiviti sukan dan kelab - kalau dulu benci sampai sumpah seranah akibat tidak puas hati pada cikgu dan sebagainya, sekarang, ku cium tapak kakimu rela berkorban jiwa raga kerana kau lah idolaku. Alhamdulillah. Bagus. 

Tengok balik......oh..MSSWPKL dah dekat.

Ada yang bersahabat, seorang anak sahaja dapat peluang. Yang lain tidak dapat. Tercetus pula komen2 apa jadi dengan setiakawan. One for all. All for one. Sudahnya, anak yang dapat cancel untuk pergi.

A very sad observations. Truthfully.

Dan Allah bantu, masa AGM PIBG haritu saya jumpa seorang parents baru. Anak darjah 6 , baru berpindah daripada St John ke sekolah anak kitorang.  Dan dia sangat terkejut melihat perjalanan mesyuarat PIBG yang saling menghentam.

We sat down and shared stories. In her own words, anak dia tak pernah wakili sekolah untuk apa2 acara. Dari darjah 1 hinggalah darjah 5. Sebab pertama : dia dan suami agak berada. Jadi dia rasa serba salah kalau anak terpilih sebab duit dia bagi atau memang anak dia layak. Sebab kedua : tak setuju dengan cara ibubapa lain yang pelbagai melobi. Jadi mudah, dia hantar anak secara private di luar, dapat sijil bagi sekolah. Anak dia tak pernah miss daripada dapat Anugerah Koko di sekolah.

My takes?

Susah nak puaskan hati semua orang, dan mustahil untuk harapkan orang lain pun ada perasaan sama. Macam kita mengharap harmoni dan baik2 sahaja pada anak2 semua. Mengharap parents tak pentingkan diri sendiri dan fikir pasal anak2 orang lain juga.Susah juga nak maintain integriti, tahan nafsu dan keinginan untuk  beri yang terbaik sahaja pada anak sendiri apatah lagi bila ada peluang depan mata. 

Contoh situasi. Semasa di Melaka, saya charter 1 keretapi mainan bawa budak2, anak2 rugby dah duduk, tinggal 1 spot sahaja. Semasa saya bayar untuk keretapi tersebut, parents ini datang, suruh Hanif keluar dari spot tersebut dan letak anak dia sendiri. And she was not saying sorry nor paying a single cents nor feeling guilty.  Ikut perasaan normal, wajar sakit hati. Tapi tidak sampai hati nak suruh anak dia keluar. Sudahnya, minta Hanif kongsi dan berdiri. 

Kami juga pernah dihina berlakon baik dengan semua orang, macam bagus sangat etc.Dari kumpulan yang sama ini. Always from this group of people. And demi Allah, baru saya jumpa orang begini tahun lepas.

Tapi bab ni saya suka pendekatan Hasif. Dia selalu tegur, kalau buat baik, jangan pernah harap balasan. Kalau orang tuduh, dan kita tahu salah dan tuduhan tersebut tidaklah damaging sangat, diam dan senyum sahaja. Selagi kita jujur dan yakin apa kita buat itu betul, Allah tahu.  Allah tak akan buka aib kita. Allah tak akan tarik rezeki kita malah bertambah jika kita suka kongsi rezeki.  

And climax nye adalah.

Fitnah dan cerita disampai sehingga ke pentadbir dan cikgu sekolah. Salah pula tuduhan tu. Sebab ini dah damaging, saya tulis surat, dan beri pada cikgu terlibat dan kumpulan ini.

Penyata Kewangan PIBG 2019

Assalamualaikum.

Usual activity beginning of the year - apart from school clean up / beautify activities, we had more 'fun', auditing the PIBG Account. 

The real challenge was, to lower down the expectation and requirements. Not too low as it may raise concern, and not too high as it may not serve the purpose.

Let me share something. Of all the concerns raised from parents, I may say 80% was on how the money were spent. So here the details:

1. PIBG is a club account - read: not for profit organisation (NPO). Hence, a full set of account is not required. For the NPO, the objective is not for a profit maximization, instead the objective should be :

• Economy – Buy goods at minimum cost (still paying attention to quality)
• Efficiency – Use these goods to maximise output
• Effectiveness – Use these goods to achieves objectives

Literally, a cashflow statement showing cash in and out is sufficient.

2. Its rare for a capital expenditure to be recorded as all the facilities of the school belongs to government. Unless if the school manage to generate cash for an asset, then a Balance Sheet showing Current Asset and Non Current Asset should be prepared.

3. Payment we made to PIBG is a contribution not a fees. The difference is contribution, we are paying based on our willingness with consideration to help the kids whilst a fees, a mandatory payment. Please dont get confuse for these two.

4. Its good to present the cashflow statement in detailed, with a basis of preparation made known to parents. 

5. Government support is for school expenses, it will not and never be parked under PIBG Account.

and last, this is extremely important:

Get a qualified auditor or accountant to present the account. Our Malaysian parents are very 'involved' in their kid's activities. you will never been asked how much money required to photostat the examination paper, nor been asked how much is required to supplement on exercise book or the easiest - how much spent for stationary used by the teachers. You will, instead, been asked why the contribution is too expensive, why this, why that, and never on HOW I CAN HELP THE SCHOOL. In summary, RM50/ year collective donation for a class is considered expensive and outrageous compared to RM100/ month for telephone bill?

And suddenly during the AGM, everyone is an expert  on how to professionally auditing the account.

Assalamualaikum ...

Attended SKS PIBG AGM last Saturday, and met with old friends. Parents from Imani's class since she was in Standard One. And surprisingly, not only one, but if I can recall correctly at least 4 mom came over and asked about this blog.

Literally, why I did not posting for quite a while.

And surprisingly, they understand and appreciate the thought that i wish to share. A comforting thought indeed. Thank you.

Will try to update more, and let me know what your interest it, will try to research the topic.
