INFO : How to attend an Interview Session

Assalamualaikum....

Have had experiences conducting a chit chat sessions with internal staff and external interviews with new faces. From choosing an intern to the latest Executive and above.

As an Interviewer, I would like to share the basic principle what to do -

7-Step Interview Prep Plan
  1. Research the organization. This will help you answer questions — and stand out from less-prepared candidates. ...
  2. Compare your skills and qualifications to the job requirements. ...
  3. Prepare responses. ...
  4. Plan what to wear. ...
  5. Plan what to bring. ...
  6. Pay attention to non-verbal communication. ...
  7. Follow up.

Buddy talk, here the tips:

1 - Your CV should be within 2 pager - max. Highlight on your skills and what you can deliver. Latest innovation, people go for info graphic, it is good but please make sure the info provided is sufficient. Do not add fancy icons with limited access on your skill. Remember, when your CV received by HR, it will be stacked together with hundreds of others. Imagine that 2 sided A4 paper representing and telling about you, what do you want people to know?

I had an experience of filtering several CVs in less than a minute for 1 CV- with decision go or no go. The 1st look always on presentation, at a skim through,  if  the formatting not ease to eyes , or with silly typo. I will put an axes. It just shows that you are not meticulous to details and did not put 150% effort on importance of that CV.

2 - On the day, do come early. This will avoid you for being running out of breath should you are running behind the time. Plus, enough space for you to gather yourself and make sure you are at your most quite and serene ambiance.

3 -  When people ask you to tell about your self, please relate to your working experience. We don't want to know how many cats you have at home, or whether you have an online business or not. In that split seconds, by telling your background, we can figure whether you have the skillset that we require.

4 - Answer on point. Do not camouflage or try to sweeten things up. Your body lingo will tell all.

5 - Normally, at the end of the session, you would be asked, whether you have any question for the interviewer. Jumping the gun straight to salary and what YOU will be getting wont earn you the bonus. Instead, starting it off with a questions perhaps on expected deliverable, or the values company is holding on. It shows you are very keen and professional.

So those are my tips. At the moment. Just be honest and be yourself.
